Healthy Makhana Chaat Recipe



Hey friends, Welcome to repast love and today we'll make a healthy snack. You'll be missing out a lot of snacks during this lockdown, so make a healthy one. Today we'll make a Makhana recipe. Basically there are two types.. Black pepper and Mint Makhana. For the Makhana Chaat , I've taken 50gms of makhana . 
Phool Makhana, Makhana, Foxnut or Lotus seedsare are  few names. Phool means flower and Makhana is the name of the seeds of the Lotus flower or Foxnut. Phool Makhana is actually the processed seeds of the Lotus flower. The black colored seeds are collected and washed thoroughly. They are sorted and sun-dried. The dried seeds are then fried and manually cleaned until the white puff pops out, just as in the case of popcorn.  Makhana is now processed and ready. 
What are the benefits of Makhana? 
  • Makhana works great for weight loss, pregnant women, curing skin problems, diabetes etc.
  • This traditional snack is a healthful food of much nutritious value. 
  • It has low saturated fat, contentand low cholesterol and sugar contents. Thus it is a healthy heart snack. 
  • It cleans the spleen and thus reduces cholesterol levels in the body. 
  • With its high magnesium content and low sodium content, Phool Makhana lowers blood pressure. 
  • Also since it removes excess sodium from the body, it reduces the risk of a stroke.
  • With a mild sedative effect, It helps a person sleep well. A good restful sleep ensures that the personis not irritable and also reduces palpitations.
  • Its calming properties also relieve stress. It contains antioxidants and vitamins which helps in regulating the functions of the body effectively.
  • Body functions well with reduced stress andwith the action of a sedative effect, pregnant women do get proper sleep. 
  • It has low-calorie content and also is low on fat and therefore assists in weight loss. 
  • With its starch content, it makes a person feel full quickly and thus decreases the amount of food ingested. 
  • The fullness comes from the low glycemic index of the seeds. 
  • It is always advised to take balanced diet, in addition to this remedy to control weight.
  • It contains Kaempferol which is an antioxidant. Therefore it has an anti-aging effect on aperson because it reduces oxidative stress.
  •  It repairs damaged skin and keeps the skin hydrated in the subcutaneous tissues giving it a youthful look. 
  • Flavonoids contained in Makhana improve the immune system. 
  • Antioxidants in  Makhana decrease the risk of various types of cancer. 
  • Makhana has a low glycemic index. It is high on starch. Thus it digests food slower resulting in aslow release of sugar. This helps to keep sugar levels under control.
  • At the same time, its high protein content ensures that it provides a steady source of energy for a longer time. 
  • With its high starch content, it ensures good bowel movement. 
  • It is a good natural source of essential elements like manganese, potassium, magnesium, and phosphorus.
  • Good calcium content means that it is not just a tasty snack but also good for the bones, warding off osteoporosis and brittlevbone disease. 
  • Phool Makhana's anti-inflammatory properties make it a valuable snack for those with arthritis.
  • It contains flavonoids that reduce inflammation and joint pains relieving the symptoms of arthritis. 
  • It contains Thiamine or vitaminB, which ensures healthy functioning of various body organs, as well as the nervous system. 
  • It is also good for a healthy brain. 
Makhana namkeen is pleasing in taste as well as nutritious. Makhana is anti oxidant and full of fibre. People of any age group can consume them easily. Make makhana namkeen for kids instead of potato chips. 
So let's start... 
INGREDIENTS :-
  • Makhana - 2 cup
  • Ghee - 2 tbsp 
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Salt - 1/4 tsp
  • Cumin powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Red Chilli Powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Chaat Masala - 1/2 tsp
  • Curd - 2tbsp
  • Imli Chutney - 2 tbsp
  • Onions - 1 small Chopped 
  • Green Chilli - 2 Chopped 
  • Tomato - 1 Small Chopped 
  • Carrot - 1/2 Grated
  • Sev or Mixture - 1 tbsp
METHOD :-
  • Take a frying pan /wok. Add 2 tbsp Ghee. 
  • Now, put 2 cup Makhana and raost it for 40sec.
  • Now, add : Cumin powder, red chilli powder, salt and turmeric powder. 
  • And mix it, cook makhana for 2 to 3 min, so  that turmeric is cook well. 
  • Than keep it in a plate and leave to cool down. 
  • When it is become cold, keep it ina plate. 
  • Spread 2 tbsp Curd, 2 tbsp imli Chutney, chopped - onions, green chillies, tomato and carrot, 1 pinch Cumin powder, 1/2 tsp chaat masala and some Sev or Mixture.
  • Your chaat is ready to serve. 
  • Combo of Yummy with Healthy.

Hello, Welcome to Repast Love. Today we are going to prepare Gulab Jamun. It is one of the popular Indian desserts in parties, weddings and festivals. These deep fried soaked sugar syrup balls are delight to relish.  Festivals are incomplete without sweets. But the high adulteration ruins the mood.
